Dry needling / medical acupuncture is a treatment designed to ease muscular pain and improve the function of a muscle by releasing the tension it holds.
During the treatment very fine filiform needles will be inserted into the muscle, often without patients realising as they are so fine. The needles themselves don’t cause discomfort and no fluid is injected. The stimulus of the needle acts as an alternative to manual trigger point release, helping to relax tight or troublesome muscles, eases muscular pain and spasms.
This can be incorporated as part of a massage treatment or as a stand-alone appointment.
